What to include in your enquiry

Please provide your full name and reliable contact details, a short description of the matter, the police force or court if relevant, the allegation or type of dispute, and any next date or deadline. You do not need to write a full witness statement in the first email.

If you have important documents, identify what they are. We can then advise what should be sent and whether a conflict check or other preliminary step is required before confidential documents are reviewed in detail.

Urgent police interview or bail issue?

Put “URGENT” in the subject line and include the police station or force, alleged offence, interview or bail date and the officer’s details if known.

Before sending confidential material

An initial enquiry does not by itself create a solicitor-client relationship. Please avoid sending highly sensitive originals or large volumes of confidential material until the firm confirms that it can consider the matter and there is no conflict preventing us from acting.

Visiting the office

The firm's registered head office is at 14 Red Lion Square, London WC1R 4QH. Meetings should be arranged in advance so that the appropriate time and facilities can be reserved.

MAKE THE FIRST CONTACT USEFUL

Tell us what has happened, what is happening next and when

A concise first enquiry helps identify urgency and conflicts quickly. You do not need to write a witness statement before speaking to us. Start with the essential facts, the next deadline and the documents that show the current position.

Criminal investigation

Include the police force or station, alleged offence, whether you have been arrested or invited to a voluntary interview, bail or RUI status, the next date and any custody, bail or interview paperwork.

Criminal court case

Include the court, hearing date, charges, plea if already entered, bail status and the most recent prosecution or court papers. If you already have solicitors, say so at the outset.

Civil dispute

Include the parties, approximate value, key contract or relationship, what has gone wrong, any limitation or court deadline, and whether a letter before action, claim form, defence or injunction application has already been served.

Urgent injunction or publication issue

State exactly what is threatened, when it may happen and what evidence exists. Preserve the material before asking a platform, opponent or third party to remove or alter it.

What happens after an enquiry?

The first step is to identify conflicts, urgency, scope and funding. If the matter is one the firm can consider, we may request specific documents or arrange a call or conference. A solicitor-client relationship begins only after the firm has agreed to act and the required client-care, identity and funding arrangements are in place.
